UFC 115 RESULTS
UFC115 Fight Results
Everyone knows the main event was Chuck Liddell vs Rich Franklin, but the rest of the UFC 115 fights had their own highlights.
UFC 114 was a snoozefest, save one or two fights (Fight Results, but UFC 115 was definitely a thrill-a-minute ordeal. The Chuck Liddell vs Rich Franklin fight lived up to the hype (Preview / Recap) but so did the other fights.
Rich Franklin vs. Chuck Lidell
It was an amazing fight between the Ice Man and the Ace Chuck had Rich almost finish and from nowhere Rich came out with an amazing punch that stunned the Ice Man and knocked him out cold and put him to sleep it was one of the greatest comebacks and greatest knockouts in the UFC history.
Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit
First fight of the Pay-Per-View segment was Rory MacDonald vs Carlos Condit. MacDonald and Condit exhanged blows in the first round, but overall MacDonald landed the better stuff. MacDonald kept taking Condit to the ground, but Condit did dish a little punishment of his own.
In round two, it was another back and forth struggle, but again MacDonald appeared to get the edge on the scorecard, thanks in part to a kick in the chest to to Condit at the bell.
For round three, MacDonald opened full throttle, but was quickly taken down by Condit, who rained punishment down on him. MacDonald was able to get to his feet again, but was just as quickly taken down again. As time wound down, knowing that if it went to decision Rory MacDonald would be raising his hands above his head, Condit just kept dropping abuse in the form of fists. With a mere seven seconds left in the fight, the referee stopped the match, handing Carlos Condit a TKO victory, although many thought the match should have went the final 7 seconds, since MacDonald was still concious and defending himself as best he could.
Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel
Fight two of the PPV segment matched Ben Rothwell against Gilbert Yvel. While this fight went the distance, it was not a bore. At the opening bell, Ben Rothwell landed a deep right that stunned Gilbert Yvel, and followed up with a massive barrage of fists that nearly ended the fight in the first ten seconds. Yvel managed to hang in there, but ended up on the mat taking abuse. He made it to his feet again, but was taken down and pinned. Near the end of the match he made it back up and even landed some damage on Rothwell, but not nearly enough.
The second round went about the same as the first, with Ben Rothwell taking down Gilbert Yvel at will and racking up good points, but Yvel taking control of the round near the end. With less than half the round remaining, it looked like Rothwell would be out getting beat near-senseless, but he managed to get back on top to end the round.
The third round was very much in Ben Rothwell’s favor, just ground and pound against an oppenent on his back. The match went to decision, which was unanimous for Ben Rothwell.
Paulo Thiago vs. Martin Kampmann
Possibly the least entertaining of the PPV fights, Martin Kampmann showed dominance the entire match, although Paulo Thiago did have some good groundwork. Kampmann had an arm triangle in the last round, but Thiago managed to hold on for the loss by decision. A very impressive, if boring, show for the Swede, Martin Kampmann.
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Pat Barry
Wow. That’s about this fight. Pat Barry came out strong, landing two early rights that put Cro Cop on his butt each time. Cro Cop had a swollen face, but tenacity to hold on. The two fighters gave a huge of respect during the fight, which was a nice touch. The round was all Pat Barry, though.
The second round started with Cro Cop showering Barry with an impressive repretoire of kicks, including an axe-kick that is a rare treat for UFC viewers. Cro Cop controlled the round, taking the fight to the floor and briefly getting a choke going against Barry before the round ended. Solidly in Cro Cop’s favor.
Round three was more of the same, as Cro Cop’s kicks and punches kept landing. As the time wore down, Cro Cop got Barry to the fence and unleashed a torrent of brutal blows to the face, before settling on a rear naked choke to give Cro Cop his fourth submission win of his career, as Barry tapped out at the 4:30 mark.
Evan Dunham vs. Tyson Griffin
An impressive showing by both men, Evan Dunham carried the match, but Griffin spent the last half of the third round carrying Dunham on his back. Near the end of the second round, also, he had Dunham on his back, and did a huge drop that caused Dunham to hit the mat on his head at an awkward angle. Still, Dunham won by split decision after his display.
Matt Wiman vs. Mac Danzig
In the shortest fight of the night, Matt Wiman got a submission choke on Mac Danzig in only a minute and fourty-five seconds of the first round.
Mario Miranda vs. David Loiseau
Mario Miranda TKO’d David Loiseau late in the second round.
James Wilks vs. Peter Sobotta
Wilks and Sobotta took it all three rounds, but it was Wilks who ended with the unanimous decision.
Claude Patrick vs. Ricardo Funch
Claude Patrick got the submission on Ricardo Funch at 1:48 in the second round.
Mike Pyle vs. Jesse Lennox
With only 16 seconds to spare, Mike Pyle managed to submit Jesse Lennox, in what would turn out to be the first of three fights that would end by submission with 30 seconds or left in the fight. Add to that the Chuck Liddell vs Rich Franklin fight that ended with 5 seconds left in the first round, and it was a very good day for fans of the sport.

Just one month later, Bisping scored his first knockout against John Weir at UK MMA Challenge 7: Rage & Fury. In his third MMA match, Bisping became the Cage Rage light heavyweight champion at Cage Rage 7, defeating Mark Epstein by technical knockout. Bisping went on to defend his championship title in a rematch against Epstein at Cage Rage 9 in a knockout victory that solidified Bisping as one of the top light heavyweight fighters in England. It also earned him the moniker “The Great British Hope”, by UFC.com.
At The Ultimate Fight Club UK: Natural Instinct on January 29, 2005, Bisping made his cage kickboxing debut against David Brown in a light heavyweight contest. With Brown badly cut, Bisping picked up the win via medical stoppage in round two.
